How to Make a Photo Slideshow with Music in CapCut

Editing guides · 2026-11-03 · 2 min read

A slideshow is a lovely way to share memories. With a little planning, CapCut helps you make one that feels smooth and personal.

Choose your photos

Pick the best twenty to thirty photos for a short slideshow, and put them in one album first. Fewer, stronger photos beat a long list of similar ones.

Create the project

Open a new project, select your photos in the order you want and tap Add. Each photo appears as a clip on the timeline.

Set the timing

A photo usually looks good for about two to four seconds. Drag the end of each clip to change its length. Use shorter times for fast, upbeat music and longer ones for calm pieces.

Add music

Choose a song that suits the mood, then place your photo changes on the beat. Trim the song so it ends neatly with your last photo.

Add gentle movement

A slow zoom makes a still photo feel alive. Use keyframes to scale each photo a few percent from start to end.

Use transitions with care

Pick one or two simple transitions and repeat them. A cross-fade works well for emotional moments, and quick cuts suit lively ones.

Add text

Short titles for places or dates help the story. Keep the same font and colour throughout.

Export

Export at 1080p. If you plan to share on social media, choose a vertical or square ratio first.

Final thoughts

Choose your best photos, match the timing to the music and keep the style consistent. The result will feel thoughtful and personal.
